London: England striker Theo Walcott is sidelined for the 2014 World Cup qualifier against Poland on away, early Wednesday morning after being wounded in the chest, according to the Football Association (FA) of England, yesterday. Walcott was injured after running into San Marino goalkeeper, Aldo Simoncini in the fifth minute when England recorded a 5-0 victory in Group H action at Wembley last Friday and had to stay overnight in the hospital.

He (Walcott) monitored overnight in the hospital as a precautionary measure and scan test results will be sent to the club (Arsenal) for his further treatment, the FA statement said.

England manager Roy Hodgson criticized the action Simoncini do roughness resulting in injury to Walcott and consider San Marino goalkeeper should have been red carded.

I think if I describe it simply as an act of recklessness, I am a very good.

It's a hard enough action. I do not believe there was any malice when he tried to get the ball but it is a serious action, said Hodgson.
The absence of Walcott gave little blow to England as they will face a tougher challenge in Warsaw.

England now on top of Group H with seven points from three matches, while Poland in third place teams share four points with second-placed Montenegro. Both has started two games.
